I have a few questions about asbestos exposure…?

So I’m going to a boarding school and the building I’ll be living in has asbestos in it according to the students and staff…Luckily I’ll only have to live in it for a year until they get the new building made. Soo I was just wondering what kind of effects it could have on my health.
Cancer. Mesophelioma to be specific.
-Truthfully? You have little to worry about. The levels that MIGHT be floating in the air are minimal otherwise the building would be shut down. Asbestos affects different people in different degrees. One student may be hypersensitive to it while another would only get acute symptoms.
What they are telling you is that the building is old and that asbestos was used for the heating system. As long as you do not disturb the casing around hot water pipes, releasing particles in the air, you will be fine.

2010 Sep 01 3If the asbestos is in wall sheeting or roofing, as long as it is not cut, sanded or abraded in any way, it is very unlikely to impact on your health. If it is in crumbed form, such as ceiling insulation or such, again, as long as is not disturbed, it should not be a problem.
Usually the people who are adversely affected are those who worked in an industry where they were constantly exposed to the dust and particles over an extended period of time.
